Budget Guidelines
MVI offers three levels of microscope maintenance:
Includes inspection of the instrument and it's performance; minor disassembly; cleaning of all exposed lenses, prisms and mirrors; cleaning of exposed metal and plastic surfaces; adding lubricants as needed and realignment. An annual cleaning is recommended for preventitive maintenance.
Cleaning
Includes inspection of the instrument and it's performance; disassembly; degreasing and regreasing of two of the following major components: nosepiece, mechanical stage, condenser and field diaphram. Also includes cleaning of all exposed lenses, prisms and mirrors as well as cleaning of exposed metal and plastic surfaces; minor electrical repair; lubrication as needed and realignment. Plan does not include replacement parts. A limited overhaul is recommended when mechanical operation of the instrument feels stiff or impaired.
Limited Overhaul
Includes inspection of the instrument and it's performance; disassembly; degreasing and regreasing of each of the following major components: nosepiece, mechanical stage, condenser, field diaphram, and focusing mechanism. Also includes cleaning of all exposed lenses, prisms and mirrors as well as cleaning of exposed metal and plastic surfaces; minor electrical repair; lubrication as needed and realignment. Plan does not include replacement parts. Complete overhaul is recommended when mechanical operation of the instrument, specifically the focusing mechanism, is seriously impaired to the point where continued use may cause parts to break or wear out.
